Custom version of Mint Grotesk
In 2024, we designed a custom typeface for the communication of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole. The project builds on Mint Grotesk, a typeface from our catalogue created by Sébastien Sanfilippo, valued for its clarity and strong personality.
We preserved its original intent while introducing graphic refinements tailored to the specific needs of the metropolitan identity: enhanced contrast, sharper shapes, and a more assertive visual presence.
The most striking transformation is the capital M, now with outward-slanting stems. Other subtler changes contribute to the overall tone: diagonal stroke endings on ascenders, tightened letterforms, and carefully adjusted curves.
To support the Métropole’s wide range of communication materials, the typeface was also developed in a condensed version and as a variable font, providing greater flexibility and adaptability across formats.
